Peter Hübner studied law at the University of Basel and was admitted to the bar in 1984. Following time spent in the USA, in 1985 he was appointed in an academic role at the Institute for Local, Regional and Rural Planning (ORL) at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH/FIT) in Zurich. There he dealt mainly with problems concerning planning and environmental protection law.


After collaborations and partnerships with several law firms in Zurich, in 1996 he founded the "Anwaltsbüro Hübner", law firm with offices in Zurich and Zug.


In 1991 he completed his doctorate with a dissertation on land parcel ordinance under the law of the city of Basel (canton Basel-Stadt) .


Between 1998 and 2000 he completed his post-doctorate Master of Laws studies in international commercial law. Whilst doing so he was awarded the prize for the best result on the specialist course “Intellectual property, technology and information law” by the law faculty of the University of Zurich.
